From a Tar Heel...
A student-facing risky drinking prevention campaign for the UNC Chapel Hill campus, embracing both student voices and data-driven social norms to communicate about safer drinking practices.
UNC Chapel Hill and Student Wellness partnered with Newman Carpenter to create a data-driven social norms campaign to communicate about risky drinking prevention practices across campus to all student groups. After student-centered outreach efforts, Newman Carpenter pitched a student voiced campaign, where authentic population insights would add authenticity and relevance to impactful data. Students shared their own individual practices to bring datapoints to life in a tangible and functional way. Student quotes and datapoints were paired on visuals and disseminated across campus through digital channels and print materials throughout the 2024-2025 academic school year. Dissemination partners included Student Wellness, Student Housing, Campus Dining, Student Affairs, Chapel Hill Coalition, Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership and other grassroots efforts placing materials across campus and the greater Chapel Hill area.
