Carolina Happenings Map
As a part of our social norms risky drinking prevention campaign, this "Carolina Happenings" UNC Chapel Hill campus map, features student-suggested activities to normalize the idea that there is more on campus to do than just activities that center around drinking.
Newman Carpenter partnered with local illustrator Lucy Manning to create a UNC Chapel Hill campus map for the social norms risky drinking prevention campaign project, with the UNC Gillings School of Public Health researchers and Student Wellness. Across student outreach efforts, we heard that while the general knowledge around campus was that "drinking was the only thing to do on campus," countless students regularly shared a wide variety of activities they participate in and prefer, that in fact do not center only around drinking. The data backed this up, with over 50% of UNC students reporting they had not had an alcoholic drink in the past week. We embraced and organized these activities into a physical campus map to disseminate at Fall Fest, kicking off the new school year for students.
