Better Informed Parents keeping Adolescents Safe from alcohol (BIPAS)

Digital hub for teen alcohol prevention research from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health

Many parents think giving their children sips of alcohol will help them have a healthy relationship with alcohol, or avoid the topic altogether. Research shows this isn’t the best approach. We partnered with UNC Gillings alcohol prevention researchers to bring their evidence-based alcohol education intervention online.

We developed a website to support a study that used text messaging communication. The website informs and guides parents as they navigate their pre-teen’s relationship with alcohol through visual information, education, and modeling video scenarios.

The website created concise, engaging, and relevant information and interactive elements to help empower parents to keep their children alcohol free and help them have open communication about it.
